I love babies. I love food. And I think women are amazing. It's as simple as that!
As a Women's Studies major in college, my thesis examined midwifery as a political act. Several years later, I found myself back in school receiving a certificate in Ecological Horticulture from the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems. It is only logical that I am now merging these two passions to create a business which helps families move through one of life's biggest changes with grace and ease.

Doula Work
I have attended several births and am pursuing certification as a labor and postpartum doula through Doulas of North America. I've also studied massage therapy (swedish, thai and pre-natal) as well as the history and practical science of midwifery, so the inner workings of our bodies are familiar to me. I believe that birth is a natural process and have witnessed and been amazed by the strength and beauty of women in labor. That being said, it is evident that there are times when medical intervention is necessary and everyone should be informed and prepared to make an appropriate decision. As a labor assistant, I strive to support women in making the choices that are right for them.
Food and Farming
A lovely garden dinner
There is nothing quite as pleasurable as creating a gorgeous meal and knowing you also had a hand in growing it. I've been an avid gardener and cook since I was young and have worked on farms since 2006. Food is meant to be enjoyed while also providing us with the nourishment we need to thrive. For that reason, I believe that food should be eaten with minimal processing, using simple cooking techniques and the freshest ingredients possible. I also understand that every body is different and knowing what makes YOU happy is the first step in being a completely healthy person.
Nourishing Care is the culmination of years of hard work, soul searching and learning to trust myself. I look forward to walking side by side with you on a path to greater health and happiness.
